Introduction

We are delighted to introduce the inaugural issue of Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Nigeria Group (JRSS-NIG Group), a new and dynamic platform dedicated to advancing the field of statistics in all its forms. Our mission is to serve as a comprehensive resource for researchers, practitioners, and academics who are passionate about statistical theory, applied statistics, data science, machine learning, demography, and social statistics, we also encourage articles demonstrating novel applications of statistics in interdisciplinary studies.

Our Vision

At Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Nigeria Group, we envision a collaborative and interdisciplinary community where statisticians, data scientists, and researchers can share their findings, engage in meaningful discussions, and drive innovation. We aim to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements and real-world applications, fostering a deeper understanding of the role of statistics in solving contemporary challenges.

Aim and Scope

Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Nigeria Group is committed to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed articles in broad areas that contribute to the theoretical foundations and practical applications of statistics. Our scope encompasses a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

Statistical Theory and Practice: Rigorous explorations and innovative contributions to probability theory, statistical inference, multivariate analysis and mathematical statistics.

Applied Statistics: Practical applications of statistical methods in various domains such as healthcare, economics, engineering, environmental science, and more.

Data Science: Cutting-edge research on data analysis, data mining, big data, and the intersection of statistics and computer science.

Machine Learning: Studies on algorithms, models, and techniques for predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, and automated decision-making.

Demography: Research on population dynamics, statistical demography, and the use of statistical methods in understanding demographic changes.

Social Statistics: Examination of social phenomena through quantitative methods, including survey methodology, public opinion research, and policy analysis.

Statistical Computing: The use of computational techniques to analyze and interpret statistical data. It involves the development and application of algorithms, statistical software, and programming languages to extract insights from complex data sets.

Multidisciplinary Statistical Methods and Analysis: Application of statistical techniques to solve problems across various disciplines, such as medicine, social sciences, engineering, and business.

We also encourage and extend the frontiers that include other novel interdisciplinary applications of Statistics. Review articles on research topics and books, special edition for conference and workshop training are also welcome.
