EXTRACTION AND APPLICATION TO FABRICS OF SOME NATURAL DYES FROM COMMON PLANTS IN ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA
Abstract
Natural dyes were extracted by boiling dried onion skins, cashew, mango and teak leaves (10 percent w/v) in water with the addition of alum, potash or common salt (5g/1) produce a mordant. The resultant dye contents were tested and found to have fastness properties. It was concluded that the tested plant materials had good dye potentials.
