Abstract

The interaction of Rhizobium japanicum (R) and Meloidogyne incognita race 2 (Mi) on nodulation and nitrogen accumulation in soybean was investigated. Soybean seedling growing in sterilized sandy loam soil in 48 five-litre capacity pots were set up using a randomized complete block design. Data were collected on shoot fresh and dry weights, root fresh and dry weight; number of nodules and nematode galls, nematode population, amount of nitrogen in the nodules, leaves and stem. Results indicated no significant differences on the data taken except on the number of galls and nematode population. The results also showed that Rhizobia-legume association was not affected by the presence of the nematode.
