SYNCHRONIZATION OF OESTRUS AND TIME OF INDUCTION OF OVULATION IN POSTPARTUM BUFFALO COWS

Abstract
Thirty cylic buffalo cows with normal reproductive records and an average age of 8.0+ 1.3 years were treated with PGF2 alpha during the luteal phase. The animals were then divided into three groups and were treated with GnRH (100 ug Fertirelin acetate, i.m) at either 60, 72 and 84 hours after PGF2 alpha treatment. All animals had successful ovulations. However, induction of ovulation at 60 hours after PGF2 alpha was followed by short luteal cycle in 50% of the animals treated. Two out of the 10 animals (20%) given GnRH at 72hours had short luteal phase while those that received the treatments at 84hours had no corpus lluteum abnormalities.
