Abstract

Studies were made on the effects of four concentrations of two growth hormones and thiourea on the    germination of pretreated seeds of Ceiba pentandra (Linn) Gaetrn and Terminalia superba (Eng. and  Diels). Germination of C. pentandra were enhanced by Gibberellic acid (GA3) in the light than in the dark and those of T. superba in both light and dark conditions.  Indole Acetic Acid (IAA) did not enhance seed germination.  Thiourea at 0.01 and 0.001ppm enhanced seed germination in the two tree species.
