Abstract

Arsenic in blood and urine samples of 300 volunteers from Gombe State, Nigeria was analyzed using flow injection hydride generation atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FIHGAAS).The mean concentration of arsenic in blood was 0.028 ± 0.019 while in urine it was 0.045±0.017.  Arsenic levels in female blood and urine were significantly (P<0.05) higher than the corresponding levels in the male samples. There is a progressive increase in arsenic concentration in blood and urine with age. A significant level was indicated when the mean arsenic concentration in blood was compared with that of the urine (P<0.05).
